i don't claim to be a runner. it's quite painful--i can only go 3 miles before asthma kicks in, but i still find joy and fulfillment through a good run. it's the perfect warm up or cool down, and you can adjust your own speed and intensity according to your burn desire. here's some absolutely awesome core workouts for runners. enjoy!
make sure to do these types of workouts after your running workouts. they serve as a good cool off and will help you recover. there's a principle that works well when it comes to scheduling these sessions: make your hard days harder and your easy days easier. this means you should do the longer, more difficult routines after your longer and more difficult runs.
if you run 4 days per week, alternate between the two routines in the link above after each of your runs, therefore completing them both twice every week. many runners want to do them on their rest days, but it's best to do nothing on those days to really prioritize recovery. yoga is best to do after your easy runs.
